Parquet Floor Repairs
Loose, hollow and missing parquet blocks re-laid and matched in Bromley. We keep the original floor wherever we can.
Expert parquet repairs
Parquet floors are built to last a century, but the bitumen or adhesive underneath does not. Changes in humidity, underfloor heating and old water leaks can all break the bond between the blocks and the subfloor. In almost every case the floor can be saved.
What a parquet repair involves
Removing loose blocks, cleaning them and re-laying them on fresh adhesive
Replacing broken or missing blocks with reclaimed parquet of the same species and size
Restoring the original pattern and borders where they have been patched badly
Levelling and repairing the subfloor where needed
Matching blocks to your floor
Aged oak, teak and merbau take on a deep colour that new blocks simply do not have. That is why we use reclaimed blocks wherever possible, matched by species, size and grain before they go down. The final step is usually parquet sanding, which levels the floor and blends the repair completely.
When to call us
If blocks sound hollow, move underfoot or have started to lift, it is worth acting early. Loose blocks tend to loosen their neighbours, so early repairs keep costs down. Read our parquet restoration guide for more on what causes blocks to lift.
Why we reuse original parquet
We treat every original block as worth saving, because no reclaimed timber matches it quite as well. It keeps the floor authentic and means only truly broken blocks need replacing. Where a subfloor is damp or uneven, we deal with that first so the repair does not fail again.

Questions about parquet floor repairs
My parquet is stuck down with black bitumen — is that a problem?
Many older parquet floors were laid on bitumen adhesive. It is not a problem for sanding, but loose blocks need cleaning back and re-fixing with a compatible adhesive. We check this during the survey and include it in the quote.
How are your prices worked out?
The cost depends on the size of the floor, its condition and the finish. Our price list shows typical starting prices, and the free survey gives you a fixed written quote.
How do you sand parquet without damaging it?
Because the blocks run in different directions, we use a multi-direction sanding sequence. A final pass with a fine-grit buffer removes swirl marks and leaves an even surface ready for oil or lacquer.
Do you need to visit to give a price?
For many jobs, yes. A few clear photos and the room sizes let us give a guide price quickly. We confirm it with a short visit before work starts, so the final quote is fixed.
Can old parquet be saved?
Almost always. We re-glue loose blocks, replace missing ones with matched or reclaimed timber, then sand and finish the whole floor so the repairs disappear. Find out more about parquet floor repairs.
Can you repair a water-damaged floor?
Often, yes. Light marks often sand away, while cupped or blackened boards are replaced and blended in. The floor must be fully dry first, so we take moisture readings before starting.
