Decking Restoration
Weathered garden decks brought back to life with cleaning, sanding and protective oil.
Decking takes a beating from rain, frost and summer sun. The good news is that most decks are only weathered on the surface, and a proper restoration brings back the colour of the timber underneath.
Our Bromley team applies the same care to decking as to indoor floors. You get a cleaner, safer and better-protected deck. Spring is a good time to book — see our article on decking restoration after winter.
Our process
Deep clean to remove algae, moss and dirt
Loose or rotten boards replaced and screws tightened
Sanding to remove grey, weathered fibres and raised grain
Two coats of UV-resistant decking oil
Every kind of deck
From pressure-treated pine to tropical hardwoods, we tailor the process to the timber. Grooved and smooth boards both respond well, although grooved boards need extra cleaning. We can also refresh garden furniture and wooden steps while we are there.
Maintenance
Annual cleaning and a top-up coat of oil every one to two years keep decking at its best. Just as indoor floors benefit from re-oiling, decks need regular oil to stay water-resistant.
When to restore your deck
Faded, silver-grey timber
Green algae making the surface slippery
Rough, splintering surfaces
Old stain or oil peeling in patches
Tackling these early stops water soaking deep into the boards, which leads to splitting and rot. Most decks are restored in one or two days, depending on size and condition. We need a dry spell for the oil to cure, so we plan the work around the forecast. Spring and early autumn tend to give the best conditions.
Fixing damaged boards
We inspect the boards and visible frame as we clean. Split, soft or rotten boards are replaced with matching timber, and raised screws are tightened or replaced with stainless steel fixings. Any problems with the frame are reported to you before we continue.
Indoor work is covered by our 3-month guarantee; ask us about how this applies to outdoor timber, which is exposed to the weather. Guide prices for decking are on our prices page.

Questions about decking restoration
Is it worth restoring old decking?
In most cases, yes. We deep clean, sand and treat the boards with a UV-resistant decking oil that restores the warm timber tone and reduces slipperiness. See our decking restoration service.
How are your prices worked out?
The cost depends on the size of the floor, its condition and the finish. Our price list shows typical starting prices, and the free survey gives you a fixed written quote.
What do you need from us on the day?
A normal plug socket and parking close by is all we need. Everything runs from your normal sockets, and we bring everything else with us.
How long does decking oil last?
Most decks benefit from a fresh coat every year. Decks in strong sun or under trees may need it sooner. A yearly coat keeps the timber protected.
When is the best time to restore decking?
We work on decking from spring to early autumn. The timber needs dry weather so the oil can soak in properly. Our guide to decking after winter explains how to prepare.
Do you repair decking as well?
Yes — we replace rotten or split boards before sanding. Replacement boards are matched as closely as possible once the whole deck is oiled.
What our customers say
Engineered floor sanded beautifully
“We were told our engineered oak would need replacing. These guys checked the wear layer and found plenty to work with. It looks brand new.”

Pleased with the floor
“Our lounge floorboards came up really well. It took a couple of days to get the quote back, but on site they were efficient and tidy.”
Chislehurst
Good decking job
“The deck looks warm and rich again. We had to rebook once because of rain, which is understandable, and they rearranged quickly. Would use again.”
